Gothic Graze
Its dining out
for "us"!
|
Demons and Darlings introduces a new fun, social
dining
experience!
The concept is simple: once a month we try a different Chicago
restaurant!
The rules are simple too:
|
Goth or not?:
Let's
get this question out of the
way. Anyone who's part of this "dark underground culture", whether you
consider yourself "goth", "rivet-head", "cyber", "punk" or any related
scene or even if you simply consider yourself "goth-friendly" ;-), you
can join us!
Why: We all like to
try new foods, right? Well, what
better way to do so than with friends?! Demons and Darlings' purpose
for being is to bring and keep the Chicago "dark underground" community
together and one of the best cultural ways to do this is over a meal!
This is a dining "club", the point of which is
to try new foods with
old and new friends.
When: Usually we'll
do this on the final Saturday of every month around 7 or 8PM.
Early enough that we can do stuff later, but late enough to avoid the
heaviest dinner rush and so more of us can get there on time.
The food: As a
group we will choose (Slash has
started the initial list, but we'll adjust on demand) places to try and
while
we will be mindful of everyone's dietary restrictions whether medically
or self-imposed, because we'll strive for variety, not every restaurant
will meet everyone's needs. Most often choices will be "ethnic",
meaning rarely will we visit a burger joint, steakhouse or other
Americana standard, 'cuz well, that's just ordinary!
RSVP required! RSVP
is required so that we can make
reservations, but you will RSVP only
for the restaurants you want. There's no implied obligation to attend
every month. Generally we will choose the next month's experience at
the current one, so there should be plenty of time to decide if you
want and can make the next one.
Accessibility:
Generally we will choose restaurants
that are CTA and parking
accessible (this includes "southside", near-west and Evanston), but
hopefully we'll be able to arrange carpools for occasional
farther-flung destinations.
Demonic Gourmand Guides:
As group organizers and
moderators, DnD staff will guide the monthly
choices to maintain a variety of cuisines with veggie and carnivorous
options, locations and price ranges.
Can I bring friends?:
Of course! You don't need to
worry about "bringing a date" because you won't be
eating alone! Still, yes, bring as many friends and family as you want -
you just have to RSVP the total number in your group .
Age restriction:
Usually this will be an ALL AGES
event!
[15 years of age or younger must have legal
guardian consent - email events
[AT] demonsanddarlings [DOT] com at least two weeks prior to
your first attendance. In many cases we'll want to verify that your
guardian has okayed your attendance, because this isn't a standard
public event, but we'll try not to be uptight about it. We DON'T want
to exclude our younger
brothers and sisters, but we also don't want to get into fights with
parents! ;-)]
Extended social
engagements: Other gatherings may
spawn from this - some may want to try
those expensive "fancy" places with others in the regular group or some
of us might choose to attend a movie, club night or other event
following dinner. This should hopefully lead to more fun!
